I recently had the opportunity to give a presentation at an AdTech Denver Meetup about how mobile advertising differs from web based online advertising.

Here are some highlights-

  • Mobile publishing is different from web based publishing because of the prevalence of in-app purchases, emerging technology and explosive growth in recent years.
  • Some of the challenges of mobile advertising include latency, emerging technology lack of cookies and tracking, no real time segmentation within the App Store and Google Play, as well as the necessity of client-side sdk updates and dedicated ad slots within apps.
  • A brief overview of the cross promotion structure I utilize at Backflip Studios.
  • Basic math for calculating eCPM (RPM) based on life time value, click through rate (CTR) and conversion rate (Conv Rate) within a campaign.
